COMMUNITY Services:

Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach/Assertive Continuing Care (A-CRA/ACC) Program

Funded by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Judicial Branch, Court Support Services Division (CSSD), the A-CRA/ACC Program serves children and families referred by the funding agency, the New Britain Courts and by local schools.  Families may also self-refer to this program.  CJR’s A-CRA/ACC Program is an evidence-based outpatient substance abuse treatment program providing 90 days of clinical-based recovery (A-CRA) followed by 90 days of community-based recovery.  Serving 75 young people annually, ages 12 to 17, the A-CRA/ACC model provides a combination of office and home-based services that focus on the unique needs of the youth and families served.

Fostering Responsibility Education and Employment (FREE) Program

The Fostering Responsibility, Education and Employment (FREE) Program in New Britain is provided through funding from the Department of Children and Families (DCF).  The FREE Program offers re-entry support to adolescents, ages 15 to 19, who have been committed to DCF as delinquent and who are returning to their communities from out-of-home placements, including public and private congregate care treatment settings, the Connecticut Juvenile Training School (CJTS) and youth correctional settings.  Services begin while a young person is in congregate care and continue based on individual needs.  Daily programming focuses on an array of services which contribute to the adolescent's well-being and fosters growth in all areas of functioning, including the development of social skills, life skills, vocational skills, educational assistance and employment.  Services accommodate a range of ages, but emphasize career development and independent living.  This program has a capacity of 40 youth at any given time.
