To Benefit the Connecticut Junior Republic
The 66th annual Open House Day tour of Litchfield will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Conducted by the Litchfield Aid of CJR, an organization dedicated to supporting the Connecticut Junior Republic (CJR), and its mission of service to Connecticut children and families, the event features selected homes and buildings of historic and architectural interest.
Tours vary from year to year and allow guests to visit beautiful country estates, grand homes on Litchfield's famous North and South Streets, and other unique residences in this quintessential and historic New England town.
This year's tour will feature five homes in the quaint community of Milton. Hidden away among Litchfield's country homes and backwoods, this storybook village has many fine homes as well as the charming Milton Historic District.
The tour also includes admission to the Litchfield History Museum and the Museum's carefully restored Tapping Reeve House and Law School, recognized as the first institution of its kind in America, and other selected points of interest.

An evening tour and Celebrate CJR Cocktail Reception will be held Saturday night from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. The party will be held at Lourdes of Litchfield and participation is limited.
Proceeds from the Open House events support the improvement of programs and facilities for the benefit of the more than 1,400 Connecticut boys, girls and families helped by CJR annually.

Tickets may be obtained prior to the Tour for thirty dollars ($30) each by writing the Litchfield Aid of CJR, P.O. Box 214, Litchfield, CT 06759.
Please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope with your check or money order. Tickets will be available for purchase on the day of the tour for thirty-five dollars ($35) each for adults and children. (No charge for infants.)
Advance orders must be received by Friday, June 28th. Ticket orders received after this date will be held for pick-up on July 13th, at the ticket tent on the Litchfield Green. Ticket sales, information, and the "lost and found" will be located here.

About the Litchfield Aid of CJR
Established in 1911, just seven years after the founding of the Connecticut Junior Republic in 1904, the Litchfield Aid is a group comprised of more than 150 members from the surrounding community who conduct an annual event - The Open House Day Tour of Litchfield - for the sole benefit of the Connecticut Junior Republic. Members of the Litchfield Aid also provide vital service to the Junior Republic by introducing new friends to the organization and by serving as goodwill ambassadors in the community.
