The Connecticut Junior Republic (CJR) is a private, charitable non-profit 501(c)(3)organization that helps special needs, at-risk and troubled boys, girls, and families through residential and community-based programs. Accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), the Junior Republic is also approved by the State Department of Education as a Private Special Education program and as a non-public school. The Junior Republic provides services for children, youth and families of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin, and is supported by charitable contributions, grants, and fees for services provided for the following agencies:
- Connecticut Judicial Branch - Court Support Services Division (CSSD)
- Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF)
- Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS)
- Local Education Authorities
Locations - CJR offers a variety of residential programs, including a program for young men in Litchfield, group homes for boys in East Hartford and Winchester, and a short term residential crisis intervention program for girls in Waterbury. Community-based programs serving boys, girls and families are located in Waterbury, Danbury, Torrington, Meriden and New Britain. CJR provides special, vocational and alternative education programs on its Litchfield campus for Connecticut boys referred by public schools.
